Mary Rash Obituary
Mary Rash, 85, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Unit, Christiana Hospital, Newark.
Born on February 15, 1928 in Soldiers Delight, MD, she was the daughter of the late Miriam "Mary" (Johnson) and John Clinton Kunkel, Sr.
In her earlier years, Mary attended college, where she earned her RN degree. She worked in the medical profession until starting her family, at which time she put her career on hold to raise her seven children. Mary enjoyed being a stay at home mom. Later she returned to the nursing profession and retired from the Veterans Hospital/Medical Center in Elsmere, where she provided many years of dedicated service to our country's heroes.
Mary will always be remembered for her green thumb, her love for flowers and more importantly, the love she shared with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Boatwright; sister, Lily Payne and brother, John Clinton Kunkel, Jr.
She leaves many fond and cherished memories to her six loving children, Raymond (Barbara) Rash, Kathy (Steve) Chilcoat, Joy (Brad) Pastore, Karen (Lee) Jones, Laura Shipkowski and Bill Rash; a great number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a large extended family of dear friends.
Funeral services will be held noon on Tuesday, April 30 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with her family one hour prior. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery, Middletown.
